To just upload items with no extra data needed for syncing, you could use the s3cmd.rb in an external script I guess.

It's not a good solution, but then again s3sync is really outdated too.  I have not had time to rewrite it yet, and no one else volunteers

Whole package will be rewritten "soon".  But if you want to add it, all the source code is in the .rb files you get with the download.

The -r flag should take care of it from local->s3, but maybe by "folders" you mean you are creating S3 nodes.  s3sync doesn't parse the folder syntax used by other tools, so if you use them to make your folders on s3 then my tool won't understand them properly.

Can you send the entire -d output instead of only the part you sent?  Also the exact command string you used.

iconv is the ruby library that converts character sets between utf8 and your local.  It apparently doesn't approve of that jpg's file name.  I'm by no means an expert in character encoding; in fact you might say it's my nemesis   But that's what the error means at least.

It's impossible to tell without seeing at least a redacted config file.
